I’ve been noticing lately that almost every op-ed piece in the papers these days makes a clever quip about the price of arugula. I didn’t get it until I found this article, which refers to Obama lamenting to rural farmers about the price of arugula at Whole Foods. So now it seems like arugula is equated with foot-in-mouth snobbiness, which is just sad. Because I eat the arugula stigma almost daily.
Today I made snobby soup: I doctored up some ready-made roasted red pepper and tomato soup for lunch. I added corn, black beans, ground cumin, minced garlic, garlic herb seasoning, and a sprinkling of arugula and chili powder on top. Snobby! About the only thing I was missing was maybe some fresh fontina cheese.
Seriously though, my plan to make healthy versions of restaurant-style food has really paid off. I consume fewer calories this way, without having to get too jealous of my co-workers and their burgers and stuff. And it makes me pretty pleased with myself to know that I’m making creative new dishes for myself every day to keep myself happy and thin.
I fit into a pair of previously too-small pants today. I do think the Slimmetry has helped to maintain my energy levels and jump-start my metabolism, but the key here is definitely the slimmer diet- that supplement could only do so much in the face of McDonald’s.
In other news, I’ve also been taking Double X vitamins pretty regularly now, and I have to say I love them. Great vitamins, not too harsh on the stomach, and I feel stronger and more alert every day. Maybe it’s a placebo, but if it is, so far it’s been an effective one!
